A village church in the inner city
St. Margaret’s is a challenging Christian community, dynamic, creative, inclusive of a wide variety of viewpoints. We are a people of global concern, striving through education to develop alternatives to conflict and injustice.
To do this, we build local networks that make a difference. We value religious and cultural diversity, working with Faith communities as equal partners.
St. Margaret’s takes as its role model the values of Jesus as recorded in the Gospels: compassion, encouragement, forgiveness. Contemporary role models are also a source of guidance.
We are both a place and a people raising awareness, leading to personal empowerment, or in traditional language, spiritual well being.

Open letter to The Bishop of Manchester 30/07/2012
"When we discussed the issues around gay marriage in St Margaret’s Church, Whalley Range the majority opinion was accepting of gay marriage. One person voiced an opinion that he would struggle with it being in church but most wouldn’t. It may be that his voice is more typical of the church than the rest of our congregation but nevertheless it is the sort of difference we can move forward together on."
